Job Summary

The Enrollment Counselor is a member of the admission team responsible for the promotion and recruitment of online undergraduate students for Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota’s Online Undergraduate programs. This position plays a key role in supporting adult learners, first-time college and transfer students by managing the recruitment process from initial inquiry through registration.

The Enrollment Counselor builds and maintains strong relationships with prospective students, community and technical college partners, and internal stakeholders to support enrollment growth while delivering a high-touch, student-centered experience. 

 

Salary Range: $40,000 - $43,000


Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive, student-centered outreach to prospective online undergraduate students from inquiry through enrollment using phone, email, text, and virtual or in-person meetings.

  • Guide prospective students through the application and admission process, offering timely, accurate support and clear next steps.

  • Counsel students on academic programs, admission requirements, transfer credit, and degree options; complete preliminary transfer credit evaluations and initial degree planning.

  • Actively manage the enrollment funnel by tracking inquiry, application, admission, and registration activity and prioritizing outreach to support student progression and enrollment.

  • Create and deliver recruitment communications and content, including email messaging and materials for virtual and in-person information sessions.

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct regular recruiting visits to community and technical colleges, including campus visits, transfer fairs, and outreach events

Qualifications

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 1 year of experience preferred in higher education, enrollment, admissions, student services, or marketing.

  • 1 year of experience working with adult learners and/or transfer students preferred.

  • Periodic travel is required with approximately two visits per week (2-4 hours per visit). Schedule may vary based on recruitment events and partner needs.
  •  
  • Creating student-facing communications or presenting to prospective students is a plus.

  • Familiarity with CRM systems (TargetX Salesforce preferred).

  • Knowledge of regional employment trends and career pathways are a plus

Essential Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Strong relationship-building, presentation, and facilitation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate program and transfer information.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
