Job Summary

The Wellness Consultant will work to aid the SAMHSA Grant team on goal initiatives.The Jay Johnson Wellness Center of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota promotes the development of the whole person and fosters biological, psychological, social and spiritual wellbeing.As caring professionals, Wellness Center staff assist students as they attend to their physical and mental health needs. Motivated by the charisma inspired by the life of Saint John Baptiste de La Salle, Wellness Center staff work to respond to the needs of students as they live and learn at Saint Mary’s University so that they ultimately enter the world more competently equipped to fulfill their vocations. 

Salary Range: $25- $28/hour

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and plan a mental health awareness campaign for the 2025-26 academic school year
alongside the Wellness Center Coordinator.
● Initiate and foster relationships with mental health organizations, service providers, and
community partners.
● Develop a comprehensive Canvas course page dedicated to mental health resources, including
tools, educational materials, and links to campus and community services.
● Provide education and outreach services to link and promote evidence-based mental health
training to faculty and staff.
● Create and maintain a database of community resources and referral networks to enhance
support services available to students.
● Collect and analyze data on the usage and effectiveness of mental health initiatives and
resources
● Develop and maintain clear mental health policies and protocols, including decision trees and
response procedures, to ensure consistent, effective care and crisis management across the
organization.
● Coordinate prevention and outreach events for the upcoming academic school year in
collaboration with Wellness Center Coordinator.
● Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, development, and
attending training and/or courses
● Help to ensure the overall success of the University’s student health and wellness efforts by
performing all other duties as assigned\

Qualifications

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health-related field or a minimum of two years' work experience in health promotion, health education, wellness program management or relevant work experience.

Essential Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of current and emerging college health issues, environmental management/prevention strategies, health behavior change theories, and evidence-based practice.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships and communications at all levels of the organization.
  • Observes safety guidelines and follows safety procedures established by the university.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively alone and within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Software as well as with social media platforms for education and engagement.
  • Excellent and demonstrated public speaking and communication skills.

 

 

Physical Demands

[ X] Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.

[ ] Light work. Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities.

[ ] Medium work. Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

[ ] Heavy work. Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
