Overview and Responsibilities

Saint Mary's University of Minnesota is seeking a Field Education Specialist in our Master of Social Work (MSW) program who is eager to contribute to its Lasallian Catholic mission of awakening, nurturing, and empowering learners to ethical lives of service and leadership. The Field Education Specialist (FES) provides administrative support to the Field Office to ensure that the student is eligible and prepared for their field practicum requirements within their program. The FES will also be responsible for collaborating with students and agencies to provide field education resources to assist in students securing a field practicum placement site. Additional responsibilities may include attending Field Office meetings, data management, Tevera management, Salesforce management, and administrative tasks, such as assisting with orientations or webinars for upcoming field students and agencies.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review university information to determine student eligibility for field education. 
  • Collaborate with the Field Education Coordinator to locate potential field education sites in the student’s community.
  • Collaborate with agencies to maintain the accuracy of information in Salesforce and Tevera. 
  • Contact agencies to determine their availability for potential student placements on a per semester basis.
  • Collaborate with agencies to develop affiliation agreements.
  • Monitor and address student insurance to assure compliance with university requirement.
  • Act as the Tevera lead for student and agency assistance, and coordination with Field Education Director for document edits and trouble shooting.
  • Maintain electronic documentation and forms for field education verification.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, faculty, and Field agencies.
  • Participate in team meetings, assist with problem-solving.
  • Develop partnerships/alliances within and outside the organization to achieve established goals.
  • Conduct data management and administrative duties supporting the Field Office.
  • Maintain the Field Education projection sheet.
  • Understand and keep up to date on Field Education policies and relay information correctly to students and agencies.
  • Assist Field Education Director with webinars, orientations, and/or training as needed.
  • Act as initial point of contact for field education related inquiries to and from students, agencies, and community members. 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. 
  • Possess strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize duties. 
  • Ability to design, implement, and sustain web-based documentation and record-keeping.
  • Ability to engage and develop rapport with professionals through web-based technology.
  • Computer literate, including the use of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and standard database packages.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and, including the use of web-based conferencing technology.
