Overview and Responsibilities

Saint Mary's University of Minnesota is seeking adjunct instructors in our Nursing program who are eager to contribute to its Lasallian Catholic mission of awakening, nurturing, and empowering learners to ethical lives of service and leadership. This posting is for all applicants interested in adjunct nursing faculty contracts for clinical rotations, skills lab instruction, and didactic courses for the BSN Pre-Licensure Program.  Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis.  As the need arises to hire adjunct faculty, qualified applicants will be contacted with contract offers.  Review of candidates is typically done in fall and spring.

Didactic and Skills Lab Site: Winona

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Pre-Licensure Program at Saint Mary’s University is seeking applications for Nursing Course Adjunct or Nursing Clinical Adjunct instructors. Contracts vary based on semester and enrollment needs.  All Adjunct positions are part-time, temporary positions. These positions are filled on an as needed basis and are on-going recruitments. Contracts may include day, evening and weekend courses and may be in-person or blended courses. 

 

CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR: Are you interested in teaching nursing clinicals to our entry-to-practice students?  A Nursing Clinical Adjunct contract may fit in well with your existing nursing role.  Clinicals typically take place Monday through Friday between 6am and 8pm on a routine schedule (eg. Tues from 700-1530).  A Nursing Clinical Adjunct instructor is responsible for overseeing and evaluating a group of 4-10 nursing students during a clinical shift.  Onboarding, training, and ongoing support provided to all Nursing Clinical Adjunct instructors. Eg: N345: Art and Science of Nursing

 

NURSING SKILLS LAB INSTRUCTOR: Are you interested in teaching entry-to-practice nursing students in the nursing skills lab?  A Nursing Course Adjunct contract may be a good way to pass on your nursing expertise and knowledge.  Nursing Skills Labs are typically in 4-hour blocks on Monday through Friday between 8am and 5pm on a routine schedule (eg. Tues from 0800-1200).  A Nursing Course Adjunct instructor is responsible for overseeing and evaluating a group of 10-18 nursing students during a nursing skills lab.  Onboarding, training, and ongoing support provided to all Nursing Course Adjunct instructors. Eg: N260 Fundamental Nursing Care

 

DIDACTIC INSTRUCTOR: Are you interested in teaching entry-to-practice nursing students in a didactic course?  A Nursing Course Adjunct contract may be a good way to pass on your nursing expertise and knowledge.  Didactic Nursing courses are typically scheduled MWF or TR at a routine time and are held in person (eg. MWF from 0800-0850).  A Nursing Course Adjunct instructor is responsible for teaching and evaluating a group of 12-50 nursing students during a didactic course.  Onboarding, training, and ongoing support provided to all Nursing Course Adjunct instructors.  Eg: N350 Pathophysiology-Pharmacology I

Qualifications

Must meet the requirements of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, MN Board of Nursing, and national accrediting organizations.  Including, but not limited to, the following:  

 

  • Education:
    • Required: Bachelor degree in Nursing
    • Preferred: Graduate degree in Nursing (Master’s or Doctorate-PhD, DNP or EdD)
  • RN License:
    • Valid nursing license in Minnesota required
    • Valid nursing license in Wisconsin required if clinicals are in Wisconsin
  • Experience:
    • Experience in related content areas: 3 years of relevant experience
    • Eg: community health, mental health, acute care, maternal/child, pediatrics
    • Experience in nursing education and/or precepting expertise
    • Preferred: Knowledge of CANVAS and ATI learning systems
  • Skills:
    • Excellent written and/or oral communication skills required
    • Excellent management/supervisory skills required
